Blair Ex Racers Club Championship Show 2008 Report and results.

Ex Racers Club Scottish Championship Show

Time to rise winner of the first Scottish Ex Racers Club Champion of Champions with runner up Pallabelle at Blair Horse Trials

The Ex Racers Club held there very first Scottish Champioinship Show at Blair horse trials at the weekend. Despite the dreadful summer there was a wonderful turnout of stunning horses in all of the classes.

The ridden Championship class was supported by ROR (Retraining of Racehorses) which is the racing industries official ex-race horse charity. Mountain Horse supplied some outstanding prizes at this event along with Feedmark and Baileys Horse feeds.

The ridden championship was won by Elizabeth Muirhead and her beautiful 15 year old gelding that had previously been in training with J Goldie and ran in several point to point races. Second was Pallabelle owned by Mr & Mrs M K Adams and Ridden by Victoria Adams. Third  was Jad's Lad Owned by Mr & Mrs M Walsh and Ridden by Jacqui Baird. Other entrants on the day were. 4th Billy Bell and Natalie Innes 5th Mormond Lass and Helen Manners 6th  Chilali with Heather Patterson owned by the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre.

The in hand Championship was won by Winter Garden and Nicola Bingham, also the winner of the best veteran award.  Winter Garden had ran a total of 63 races running many of his races on the Scottish tracks and his last race being in August at Perth in 2005. Chasing the Stars Owned by Karen Chisman came in second and was also the winner of the best turned out award.   Getatem Owned by Mrs Eleanor and Jennifer Lister was third. Other entries on the day were Billy Bell owned by Sandie Byers, Morteeno owned by Susan Beeton and Ilsley Star owned by Alex Allan.

The performance horse class was won by King Nicholas who ran 40 times on the flat. His last race being at Southwell in October 2006. Time to Rise came in second and Ilegal Alien owned by the ILPH and Odette Smith came in third. Other entrants on day were 4th clan Law and Alison Hood/Heather Graham and 5th Winter Garden and Nicola Bingham.

 

Results from the ridden open class were 1st King Nicholas and Sara Bainbridge/J.Craig 2nd - One Step Beyond and Laura Smith 3rd and winner of best Novice horse award Chilali and Heather Paterson 4th Dr Deductible and Shonagh Steven 5th Billy Bell and Sandie Byiers 6th and best Young Rider under 21 Judicious Charlie and M.Inglis/Aaron Glen.

 

The show proved that ex race horses really can go on to perform in other careers after racing. The Ex Racers Club would like to thank Blair Horse trials for hosting the show, the sponsors and all those that helped on the day. What a truly wonderful team.

 

For those that missed out on the prizes or the opportunity to get to Blair they still have a second chance as all Ex Racers Club Classes are also qualifiers for the Festival of Champions Event in October to be held at the Scottish NEC

 

The Ex Racers Club are a non profit organisation that has been established for over 4 years in 2008 alone they ran over 100 showing classes and are the largest organisation of its kind with over 50 classes in the North of the Country and Scotland alone The organisation have always held a championship show for ex race horses every year but this year was the first time a show for ex race horses only and a championship in Scotland took place. The Scottish membership has soared this year and the Ex Racers Club hope to hold many more events for their members in 2009

 Next years Scottish Championship is to take place once again at Blair Horse trials on the  30th August 2009
