The Evolution of the Feed Balancer

Blue Chip are always striving to do things better, so with developments in both production techniques and nutritional science, the whole Blue Chip feed balancer range has been re-formulated.

Recent innovations in production techniques have enabled the full Blue Chip range to go totally molasses free and whole-cereal free. This means that both the starch and sugar levels in all three balancers have decreased even further.

Furthermore, Blue Chip is proud to bring a new and proven concept to the equine world. Blue Chip are the first and only feed balancers to include a unique combination of nucleotides. Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA and RNA, which are found naturally in the horse’s diet, however at low levels. All horses and ponies can benefit from the inclusion of nucleotides in their diet, but performance horses or those with health issues have a greater requirement.

The benefits of having higher levels of nucleotides in the diet include:

·         Supporting the immune system and facilitating the immune cells, helping to fight viral and bacterial infections;

·         Faster red blood cell replication to optimise oxygen uptake and transport, which in turn reduces the amount of lactic acid produced, delaying fatigue and enhancing recovery rates;

·         Increasing the length and surface area of the intestinal villi thereby aiding nutrient absorption.

Another first for Blue Chip feed balancers is the inclusion of natural, fruit derived Vitamin E. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and the exclusive fruit derived form used by Blue Chip is five times more bioavailable than the synthetic form used in most other feed balancers.

These new formulations come in re-designed sacks, with icons representing specific ingredients to help you identify the product which is right for your horse. Another new feature to the Blue Chip sacks is the addition of a loyalty card. By collecting eight loyalty points from select Blue Chip products, the completed loyalty card entitles you to a free Blue Chip product of your choice. Blue Chip’s managing director, Jem Clay, says “We have thousands of loyal customers and we wanted to reward them by giving something back. The loyalty cards are a fantastic way to say thank you and provide our customers with the chance to try a new product from our range that they wouldn’t normally purchase, or to get to the product they use and trust free.”

There is a Blue Chip feed balancer especially formulated to suit your horse or pony. Choose Blue Chip Lami-light for the laminitis or over-weight prone horse or pony who needs a low calorie, low starch and sugar diet, RRP £30.95. For the high performance horse or veteran who has greater nutritional requirements there is Blue Chip Pro with enhanced levels of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, RRP £41.95. Then there is Blue Chip Original, trusted and fed with phenomenal results to thousands of horses and ponies, RRP £39.95.

By feeding a Blue Chip balancer, you will be ensuring that your horse will:

·         Receive a complete vitamin, mineral and nutrient package

·         Have a healthy settled digestive system and absorb the optimum amounts of nutrients from their feed.

·         Be happy, relaxed and settled thanks to the inclusion of a de-stressor and the whole-cereal and molasses free formulation.

·         Be in outstanding condition and health, with good muscle tone, scurf-free skin and a glossy coat.

·         Have strong pliable hooves thanks to the hoof supplement SoundHoofTM.
